Everyday Is Exactly The Same

And so another month and it seems we are no closer than we were when we started this damned project.

Everything we have tried so far hasn't worked. Not at all. I mean even the tiny successes pale in comparison to the huge and ever present failures.

I am seriously starting to wonder if this project can actually reach its goal, or if it's just going to continue to flounder until someone cut off its money supply.

A Little Holiday

So after months of working very hard, I decided to take some personal leave time. I told everyone I was sick today, and was likely to be sick tomorrow.

So, I caught up with some of my friends I haven't seen in some time now. I went over to a party they were having and played some game called "Rock Band". Normally I am much too old for video games, but this one didn't need any button pressing or skill, I just sang my heart out like a karaoke champion.

A few drinks later and I was relaxing for the first time in a while. As I slumped down on their couch I wondered if and when the new season of Deadliest Catch was premiering. By night's end, I had made probably a dozen scribbles of notes to myself all over my arms.

One note I wrote was "decide if mad scientist is cliche for a PhD to wear on Hallowe'en for the second year straight"

It's October

My co-workers are a bunch of bloody tools. Seriously, there is Rachel, who was originally sweet and caring, but now is kind of bitchy and whines near constantly. And then there is Fincher, who at times I would enjoy nothing more than hearing nothing pass between his lips.

This all sounds very normal for those of you who know Laboratory work however in this case, it is not just working long shifts, in close quarters that makes them annoy you, these people are just seriously annoying.

Note to all future PhD's: Stay out of as much damned Lab work as you possibly can, for your own sanity.

A Hard Time

The fact of the matter is I haven't written a blog in a while, because I have been working damn hard.

Even Sparkles misses me, it seems.

Anyway, I apologize to any possible viewers who have been disappointed.

I Missed Somethin

Apparently yesterday was Valentines Day. It doesn't really matter because I didn't have the time or the patience to go anywhere or do anything. It is surprising how it totally passed me by however.

No big deal though, the fact is, if I could give a giant box of chocolates to Science or my project, I would.

Does anyone even know where Valentines Day came from? Must check Wikipedia. Anyway, I hope everyone else had a pleasant time.

First Day On The Job

Well, just got home not terribly long ago. First day at the new position.

I was rather surprised as to the original friendliness of my peers on the project. I was rather worried that they would all be, dare I say, science geeks. However their welcome and openness may be just a short lived sham to inspire security in the job.

Anyway, for any of you out there looking for juicy details on the specifics, I am unfortunately, and regrettably unable to give any as I have signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Needless to say I have a lot of work set out for me, and this project, as with all science, will not be easily finished, but then again, if it was, everyone would be scientists!

A Brand New Opportunity

Success! I am truly excited today, because I was offered a very important position in CRS! Apparently some new project is opening up that has a bunch of funding poured into it, and I was hand-picked from a large group of my peers!

For me, today is the day that I can stick my middle finger to the wankers in school who made fun of my career decision. I am sure that half of them are out there behind a fast food counter, or working as a street sweeper.

Back on subject. I am not entirely sure of the details of the project but I do know that the funding that has been put into it, as well as what it entails has been kept very well under wraps, and those of us who were picked for the project were only told of it just now, and the project begins next month!

I am quite excited, and today is a day to celebrate for sure. I am currently sipping a glass of brandy, and Sparkles is sitting behind me on the couch seeming to thoroughly enjoy whatever is flashing across the television.

Happy Bloody New Year

This New Year I decided to stay home and drink some champagne. I am totally appalled that it seems every human being in this city, and their dog, is too busy tonight and all seem to be going to Times Square for the evening.

That is one American tradition that I don't understand. Huddling in the middle of thousands of freezing people, who are all in varied states of inebriation, watching a ball drop from a building, signaling what is just as easily signaled by a wall mounted clock.

My New Year's resolution is to focus more on my work and cease bothering with stuck up women who expect men to spend ludicrous wads of cash in order to provide them with some semblance of the dating ritual, and thus keeping them one step ahead of a hooker, in their own mind.
